Welcome everyone to the 161st edition of ‘Hot Gat or Fudd Crap?’, one of our many series here on TFB. If you’re new to the series, this is where we look at the most obscure firearms that are actually for sale and ask the question – is this Gat a sweet deal or only has a Fudd appeal? Each week the TFB staff weighs in with their thoughts, but readers get the final say in the poll at the bottom of each article.
In our last edition, our poll showed that you, the readers, decided the custom Saiga-12 was fudd crap.
At this time the original auction remains up with the Saiga-12 still up for grabs. We hope this custom shotty finds its way to a new home in the very near future.
In this week’s edition of HGFC, we look at a custom SERO GM-6 Lynx chambered in .50 BMG. As is tradition, this bright purple 50 is currently up for sale on GunBroker for $17,995 Buy It Now.
HOT GAT or FUDD CRAP?
Purple Flexing or Just Perplexing?
Let’s see what the Staff had to say about this week’s offering:
“I cant decide if this is such a flex that I’m impressed or disgusted with it.” – Matt E.
“But why?” – Nick C.
“I’m sure touching off a 50BMG isn’t going to illicit enough attention at the range, better paint it purple while we’re at it.” -Tim C.
”I didn’t know Pepto-Bismol worked as a hydro dip”
“No amount of bad taste can harm the hot gatness of this long recoil beauty!” – Giorgio O.
“The bad taste in cerakote can be fixed.” – Doug E.
Selling this rare recoil operated gat is GunBroker seller ralfabc88, located in Houston TX. Let’s see what they had to say about this bright purple semi-auto 50.

Any serious gamers. This will look awesome mounted in your man-cave above the TV. In-stock and ready to ship. No waiting and months of promises that the weapon is about to arrive. Latest updates from the factory. 100% NIB SERO GM-6 Lynx rifles .50 BMG. This is a listing for the PURPLE rifle. You will receive the new SERO GM-6 rifle, a monopod, factory decleration with serial number, spare barrel spring (pictured /upper right hand corner of the case), English manual, 30mm heavy-duty factory rings, a total of two (2) 5 round magazines, a stub nose screwdriver and a serial numbered Pelican transit case with inlay. These are all in the factory grease and still smell new. A total of one (1) Purple rifle. THE FINISH WAS APPLIED BY THE SERO FACTORY.
Just perfect, if you want to shut down the range. I did not perform a review on-line. I did not disassemble anything and rock and lock the magazines and or pull the trigger. Here is an important point. I have no retail store and I do not attend gun shows. Without the retail store you will not have a tire kicker finger bang your rifle and have store employees put it down on the counter 89 times, for retail customers to grope the thing, charge the bolt, and pull the trigger nine times. You do not want people to finger bang the item endlessly and charge the bolt and pull the trigger. Someone at the shop will get a thrill to collapse and release the barrel over and over. No scope has been attached to the rail. No trial fires, dry fires, and selfie pics.
I work out of an air conditioned warehouse without any retail store.

The GM-6 Lynx is a long recoil operated semi-automatic .50 BMG manufactured by SERO International. These rifles started making their way into the U.S. in 2020 in very small batches. For a short time, these were imported by Hurricane Butterfly, but now it looks like SERO USA might be importing them directly.
At first glance, you’d think this paint job was aftermarket (I know I did), but allegedly this is a factory finish. Not sure how I feel about that, but hey, I guess the customer is always right. Either way, it’s a very cool platform that I’d love to review (even if it is a bullpup).
So what do you think? Is this the ultimate flex for just under $20k or would you rather save your money and buy something else? As always, I leave it up to you, the readers, to decide.
What do you think? Is this purple GM-6 Lynx a Hot Gat or brightly colored Fudd Crap? Be sure to let us know in the comments below, and cast your vote to let us know if this Purple SERO GM-6 Lynx .50 BMG Semi-Auto Rifle is a Hot Gat or Fudd Crap:
Special Thank you to reader Jon for the tip!
