Big Horn Armory first showed the prototype of their tactical lever gun at SHOT Show 2022. The company has now announced the release of the modernized version of their Model 89 lever action rifle dubbed Model 89 Black Thunder (Model 89BT). Like the regular Big Horn Armory Model 89, the new Black Thunder is also chambered in .500 Smith & Wesson Magnum. The company markets this new lever gun as a quick-handling, rapid-shooting carbine that is perfect for hunting, home defense, or survival situations.
