Wild Arms Research & Development should ring a few bells by now around here at TFB. We’ve worked with Johnny Wild in the past when he was first developing his DIY Panzerfaust project, and we’ve also seen him through every step of the process when it came to his newest Fliegerfaust project. Now Johnny has a new project with the development of his homemade RPG-2/Panzerfaust hybrid launcher. Johnny has just informed TFB that he’s completed the development of new chalk rounds for the launcher. More details are below.

Hello all, just wanted to share some development I did on affordable chalk ammunition for my Panzerfaust/ RPG-2 hybrid launcher

Designed everything in CAD, it comes in 3 sections, the warhead filled with chalk, the stem which will hold 3 (1.5”x 3” ) 1095 blue spring steel 0.01” thick stabilizing fins, and an end cup that holds 10-15 washers to act as a rear weight and holds the propellant charge

Johnny’s RPG-2 hybrid launcher uses the same tube as the Panzerfaust but this time he’s printed a replacement grip unit and a sight to adapt it for shoulder-fired use. Just like previous versions, the launcher itself is a regulated NFA item and would require registration as a Destructive Device. However, the new 44mm chalk rounds he’s developed won’t be considered NFA items given that they are only assembled on site and not transported in their completed form.

To coincide with this accomplishment, Johnny and Disposed TV have joined forces to develop a short documentary covering not only the 44mm chalk rounds, but also the hybrid RPG-2 launcher. It seems like the DIY recoilless launcher scene is only growing as others have taken inspiration from Johnny’s efforts and poured it into their own projects – the development of affordable DIY ammunition that has a bit of a flashy end is also a huge bonus for those who decide to take the plunge into these launchers. Of course, we’d like to hear your thoughts on this project and we’ve also included a short video of the testing processes that Johnny has gone through with both his RPG-2 and the 44mm chalk rounds.
