Photo Of The Day: What a “just in time” picture of a Green Beret with the 1st Special Forces Group (Airborne), as he fires an AT-4 anti-tank weapon during a heavy weapons rehearsal. The location was the Yakima Training Center, Wash., on Jun 24, 2022. This rehearsal provided an opportunity to fire both direct and indirect fire weapons which increases the team’s lethality.

Below: A Green Beret with the 1st Special Forces Group (Airborne) fires an M240B machine gun in heavy weapons practice.

Members of the 1st Special Forces Group (Airborne) prepare to fire a 60mm mortar.

The Yakima Training Center is a 327,000-acre training facility in the middle of the state of Washington. It has 25 ranges, including a modern Multi-Purpose Range Complex and a Shoot House that let service personnel practice in groups or alone.

Did you ever fire any of these heavy weapons?

It's not an 'AT-4' as far as I can tell, or correctly an AT4, which is play of the words AT, short for antitank, and 84, its nominal bore diameter in millimetres. The weapon seen is likely the AT4CS RS (AT4 Confined Space Reduced Sensitivity), which in US Army service is the M136A1,or in full 'Cartridge, 84 Millimeter: AT4 Confined Space (CS), Reduced Sensitivity (RS) and Launcher'
