A while back we featured the Australian-based Virtual-Shot training system which uses the existing technology in your cell phone to provide you with a simple and fun training environment right in your own home. Now, Virtual-Shot/Simulation Training Group has updated the Virtual-Shot app with a new five-course Pistol Basics training tutorial instructed by a former Australian Special Forces Commando who teaches advanced pistol and urban combat skills.

Daryl Batchelor, CEO and Co-Founder of Simulation Training Group explained, “There are a lot of great shooters out there, but it always amazes me whenever I go to a range to see so many shooters getting the fundamentals wrong and wondering why their shots are not going where they want. We believe that all shooters should have access to the knowledge and resources to improve their shooting and that is part of what we are trying to achieve with Virtual-Shot – democratizing access to shooting by enabling all shooters to refine their shooting skills, not just those that can afford to spend hundreds of dollars on ammo each week and every weekend at the range and thousands on personal coaching.

For many, real-world pistol training courses can be intimidating or cost/time prohibitive and the Virtual Shot Pistol Basics Training Course could serve as a more affordable stand-in for new shooters who want to get the feel for a training environment without putting a ton of money and expensive ammunition on the line. For others, it may be a great way to get some good fundamentals in if they don’t have time or can’t make it to the range as often.

Complimentary to the addition of the Pistol Basics training course content, the Virtual-Shot app has also been updated with new 22LR ballistic pre-sets, new targets, improved shot detection control, multi-language translations, and a 24-hour free trial option so people can try out the app before buying a Virtual-Shot mount. If you’re interested in picking both the virtual-shot mount and its included training app, they are sold directly from Virtual-Shot for a price of $129. Just make sure you unload your pistol before running the course!
