Today we’re looking at Australian Army special operations combat engineers. They and other technical specialists from the Special Operations Engineer Regiment at Holsworthy Barracks, Sydney, offer unique and vital technical enablement skills to the Australian Defence Force’s special operations capability.

The Special Operations Engineer Regiment was established in 2012 from the Incident Response Regimen. The unit’s motto is ‘Inter Hastas et Hostes’, which is Latin for ‘Between spears and enemies’, signifying the traditional sapper (or combat engineer) role and the enduring unit requirement to operate in the dangerous space between enemy forces and own troops.
