HOT GAT or FUDD CRAP? Custom Defender or .40 S&W Offender?

Welcome everyone to the 147th edition of ‘Hot Gat or Fudd Crap?’, one of our many series here on TFB. If you’re new to the series, this is where we look at the most obscure firearms that are actually for sale and ask the question – is this Gat a sweet deal or does it only has a Fudd appeal?  Each week the TFB staff weighs in with their thoughts, but readers get the final say in the poll at the bottom of each article.

In our last edition, our poll showed that you, the readers, found the Coonan to be a very hot gat.

I didn’t know that the best way to show off a high polish finish was to put your wedding ring on top of the gun. Granted it’s better than a reflection of a ceiling fan, but it’s still pretty weird.

HOT GAT or FUDD CRAP? Custom Defender or .40 S&W Offender?

Just bringing up .40 S&W will start a debate at a local gun store. It’s a 90’s caliber that the gun community can’t seem to draw a consensus on.  Either way, it doesn’t matter as it’s a caliber that’s here to stay.  I actually recommend people own at least one .40 S&W gun.  It’s always nice having a gun chambered in a not-as-popular caliber in case there’s a run on ammo.

Would I recommend something like this Colt Defender?  Probably not.  I know it’s a limited edition probably collector-grade gun, but I don’t see how this is worth $5k.  However, I could be wrong.  That’s why and like always I leave it up to, the readers, to decide.
