CMMG have introduced a new line of PDW firearms dubbed Dissent. CMMG Dissent utilizes the company’s new patent-pending Compact Action in which the reciprocating action parts are contained within the upper receiver eliminating the need for a stock with a buffer/recoil spring mechanism inside it. According to the company, this is the shortest, most stowable Personal Defense Weapon that CMMG has built to date. Let’s take a closer look at the new CMMG Dissent PDWs.

As seen in the animated image below, the Compact Action has a short bolt carrier and a pair of recoil spring and guide rod assemblies above the BCG. The CMMG Dissent is currently available in 5.56x45mm/.223 Remington, .300 Blackout, and 5.7x28mm caliber options. The first two are Direct Impingement guns and the 5.7x28mm version utilizes the company’s Radial Delayed Blowback operating system. The lack of a buffer tube allows having a receiver end plate with a Picatinny rail section as a stock/brace attachment solution. The non-reciprocating forward charging handle is located on the left side of the M-LOK handguard. It is nonreversible but there is a charging handle slot on the right side of the handguard and a right-side charging handle can be purchased separately.

The upper and lower receivers of CMMG Dissent are made of 7075-T6 aluminum and come with a Cerakote finish of one of the following color options: Armor Black, Charcoal Green, Coyote Tan, Midnight Bronze, Sniper Grey and Titanium. The upper receiver assembly is compatible with mil-spec AR lower receivers. The TriggerTech AR-D 2-Stage Trigger used in these guns is the result of the collaboration of TriggerTech and CMMG and is optimized for the CMMG Dissent. The trigger pull weight is 4lbs. Currently, all caliber options come with 6.5″ free-floated 4140 chrome-moly threaded barrels equipped with CMMG Zeroed Linear Compensators. The .300 Blackout version features an SLR adjustable gas block. The overall length of the CMMG Dissent pistol is 14.7” and it weighs in at 4.6lbs.

The MSRP for all caliber and color options of the CMMG Dissent pistol is $1999.95. The 5.56/223 and .300 BLK versions come with two 30-round Magpul PMAGs and the 5.7mm Dissent is shipped with a pair of 32-round CMMG 5.7x28mm Gen II Conversion Magazines.
