Featured on TFB before, NRAAM 2022 was our first chance to get a hands-on look at the new Walther WMP pistol.  Chambered in .22 WMR, this full-size pistol comes feature-loaded right out of the box.  I had a chance to sit down with Walther at NRAAM 2022 and go over some of the features of this new pistol.

[NRAAM 2022] Hands On – Walther WMP Pistol

The WMP is mechanically unique from the rest of the Walther lineup.  Its full-size polymer frame has some light texturing for grip and an accessory rail up front.

Up top, there’s a set of blacked-out rear sights, as well as a fiber optic front sight.  In addition, there’s an optics plate cover, and the pistol comes with interchangeable plates that fit most pistol red dots.

The pistol is single action and uses a small hammer that’s exposed when the slide is racked.

It’s easy to tell when the pistol isn’t cocked as the hammer sits in a recessed down position.

Everything about this pistol feels and acts very full size.  Including a ported barrel with three ports on each side to mitigate recoil.

The frame is incredibly unique and has a four-way mag release.  Each side of the frame has both a push-button mag release, and a paddle mag release under the trigger.

The magazines included are 15-round polymer-coated steel mags and drop free without issue.  Plastic followers on the side of the magazine allow you to pull down on the follower to speed up reloading.

The WMP is available now from Walther with an MSRP of $549.  The WMP ships with the pistol, optic plates, and two fifteen-round magazines.  A 10-round state-compliant version of the WMP is available as well.
