The latest addition to J.P. Sauer & Sohn’s S 404 line of bolt action rifles is the Sauer 404 Silence XTC. As its name implies, it’s a suppressed rifle. It has an integrated silencer that almost completely encloses the barrel. This new version of the S 404 rifle combines the general design of the S 404 Synchro XTC rifle’s carbon fiber thumbhole stock with the integral suppressor of the S 404 Silence TI rifle.

J.P. Sauer & Sohn @ TFB:

The cold hammer forged barrel of the Sauer 404 Silence XTC rifle has a thin cylindrical profile following an abrupt step right after the chamber area. Such a barrel profile should allow for as large internal suppressor volume as possible at an outside tube diameter that is no thicker than the chamber area of the barrel. The integral suppressor also evenly distributes its weight throughout the barrel length and at a given sound suppression level, should result in a better-balanced weapon compared to a rifle with a muzzle-attached silencer. Depending on the caliber, the suppressor of the Sauer 404 Silence XTC rifle provides up to 28.5 dB of sound reduction.

Conversion kits consisting of an integrally suppressed barrel and forearm (or complete furniture) can be used to convert other S 404 rifles into an integrally suppressed configuration.

The light barrel profile along with the titanium suppressor and carbon fiber stock results in an overall weight of 7.5 lbs (3.4 kg) with a 16.5″ (420mm) barrel. The rifle also has a 20.5″ (520mm) barrel option. The overall length is 44.5″ or 48.5″ (1,130mm or 1,230mm).

The Sauer 404 Silence XTC rifle is offered in the following caliber options: .308 Winchester, 8×57 IS, 9.3×62, .30-06 Springfield and .300 Winchester Magnum. The standard magazine capacity for the .300 Win Mag is 2 rounds with an optional 4-round magazine available. The standard magazine capacity for the rest of the calibers is 3 rounds and there are optional extended magazines of 5 and 8 round capacities.

The position of the Sauer Quattro trigger shoe can be adjusted linearly within an 8mm range and swiveled laterally by 5 degrees. The trigger pull weight can be changed by selecting one of the four individually adjustable settings. The total trigger pull weight adjustment range is 19oz – 44oz (550g – 1250g). The company guarantees sub MOA accuracy for this rifle.

That's an odd lineup of chamberings. Those crazy Europeans!

@ClintTorres Integral silencers, short barrels and thumbhole stocks; strike me as driven (iow running) boar/hogs optimized. These mostly "thumpy" rounds are likely popular in that environment. In the US, hog hunts seem to be where ARs in, also thumpy, .450 Bushmaster (crazy Americans....) are most popular.

Agree. I wonder how far the actual suppressor goes back? Is the whole shroud a functional suppressor? I've always been very interested in over the barrel suppressors. Very popular in Europe but not over here.
