Looking for moments when a great photographer meets soldiers and their firearms? Look no further, TFB’s Photo Of The Day articles is where you will find these images on a daily basis. Today you can almost hear the calls from the command tower during the pistol drills of the Combat Pistol Program (CPP).

Here we see U.S. Marine Corps SSgt Marco Casillas, an instructor for Formal Marksmanship Training Center, Weapons and Field Training Battalion, demonstrating a drill during block three of the Combat Pistol Program (CPP), at Camp Pendleton, California, April 26, 2022.

Did you ever participate in the Combat Pistol Program or similar drills? How was it?

How many personnel are actually going to be issued this pistol? Which ranks/roles? I hope they actually train enough with it so they'll be up to the task when it counts. Then again, weren't PDWs supposed to fill this niche, being much easier to hit accurately with than a pistol, while providing better ballistic performance?

@Sid Collins That too in Kandahar I either slung my M4 or carried my M9.
