TFB Review: Black Arch Holsters Entrada AIWB Holster

    Black Arch Holsters Entrada

If I’ve learned anything from my time as an armed citizen, it’s that a good holster makes every negative aspect of concealed carry easier to deal with. They reduce unwanted movement, aid in keeping the gun close to your body and make carrying for long periods of time infinitely more comfortable. I recently started carrying the Springfield Armory Hellcat Pro and have been on the search for some good holsters. This time, I decided to try out the Black Arch Holsters Entrada.

    Using The Entrada

The Black Arch Holsters Entrada is a Kydex, inside-the-waistband holster. It’s made specifically to be carried in the appendix position. The holster includes an attached magazine carrier and a ModWing to aid in reducing printing. The ride height is adjustable and the Entrada is compatible with optics, suppressor-height sights, and compensators.

Without wasting time, I threw the holster on and started using it. I almost exclusively carry in the AIWB position. Some people wanna hate, but it’s what works best for me. This was my first introduction to holsters in this format. I carried my Hellcat Pro with HEX Optics Wasp and a spare 15-round magazine for two days, only taking it off to sleep. The overall experience was pleasant. I was comfortable and could easily conceal in a t-shirt.

Carrying a gun means nothing if you can’t get to it, so I had to take it to the range. I spent a few hours running drills and moving around. Throughout the testing, I found that the holster stayed in place expertly. The retention is a little much and requires a very sharp pull, but I’d rather that than a floppy gun.

The Entrada allowed me to get a solid grip on the gun. I didn’t adjust the ride height at all, but it worked for me as it came.

    The Conclusion

    Black Arch Holsters Entrada

I like the way the Entrada conceals. The “hinged” section allowed the gun to wrap around me and stay close to my body. It was comfortable in all body positions, with the exception of deep squats to put things away in the kitchen.

I did notice some discomfort from the magazine baseplate over time. This could probably be remedied with an undershirt. This isn’t a negative about this holster specifically, but more about this style of holster. Not everyone feels the need to carry a spare magazine and would much rather use that space to carry a less-lethal option or medical supplies. I’d love to see options as replacements for the magazine carrier. It is also a bit of a pain to take on and off but is well worth the concealment that you get.

This holster is concealable and safe, which is all I can really ask from a holster. The Entrada does that job. Where it stands out to me is the finish, ease of carry, and comfort. The holster isn’t inexpensive, but it’s not as outrageous as some other prices I’ve seen for holsters like this. The cost to quality scales tip in your favor. If you want to pick one up, head to the Blach Arch Holsters website. At the time of writing, there’s a sale going on. You can also find them on Facebook and Instagram. Stay safe out there!
