HOT GAT or FUDD CRAP? The Zombie Apocalypse Strikes Back

Welcome everyone to the 138th edition of ‘Hot Gat or Fudd Crap?’, one of our many series here on TFB. If you’re new to the series, this is where we look at the most obscure firearms that are actually for sale and ask the question – is this Gat a sweet deal or only has a Fudd appeal?  Each week the TFB staff weighs in with their thoughts, but readers get the final say in the poll at the bottom of each article.

In our last edition, our poll showed that you, the readers, decided the Gucci-themed Taurus G2 was fudd crap.

HGFC – Gucci G2 or Gaudy Garbage? — Poll Results

At this time, the original auction has ended with the Taurus selling for $575 Buy It Now.  Don’t worry though, if you’re still in the market for some knock-off Gucci, the seller has relisted this item with more than one for sale.  So while it’s not a hot gat, maybe it’s time to buy some knock-off Gucci.

In this week’s edition of HGFC, we look at a Zombie Killer-themed Palmetto State Armory KS-47 chambered in 7.62×39. As is tradition, this surplus chambered zombie killer is currently up for sale on GunBroker for $1,325 Buy It Now.

Selling this bright “zombie killer green” gat is GunBroker seller savagerrray, located in Mauston, WI.  Let’s see what they had to say about this decked-out zombie killer-themed PSA.

Hey folks, Ray here from Siekert Weapon Works L.L.C. This is another of my long time alliance I have with Palmetto State Armory. This is an KS-47 so 7.62X39 nato. Now I started this build as I do all of my AR builds with a vision of what I would want in a single buy, only needing to add my favorite optic (which I did) to make it something I would be extremely happy with. What you see here is that result, the lower is Palmetto State Armory KSG247. Now it was a fully loaded lower, with their polished fire control groupand matching buffer tube, spring, and buffer made for the KS47 line. The upper is again PSA’s own made for the KSG247. Now of course, I completely remove the original coating, apply MY own amazing color coating, this Zombie killer green!!!! I did add the Alpha Omega super recoil absorbing but stock (I love this piece). The upper is as stated is an Made for the KSG247 piece with PSA’s Upper build kit which includes the forward assist and dust cover. the Rear Charging handle is an Radical arms piece the Bolt Carrier Group is again the PSA made for the KSG247. The barrel is from a company I buy 99% of my barrels from, it is a 16 inch chrome lined match grade heavy, which I polished to a bright shine. The hand guard is a 15 inch ultralight that has great cuts and accepts MLoc at 90, 180, and 270 points. Now as stated the Color is Eastwood’s “Neon Green” (I like Zombie Killer Green better) and if you think the pictures look good, wait till you get it in your hands.  I will be including  Two mags a ten which is great to us when you are bench firing and a thrity round bannana which JUST LOOKS RIGHT, the Gun Lock, and an owners manual.  This will only ship to a Federal Firearm Licensed Dealer, who will than do the dirty work and get it transferred to you. Thanks for taking the time to look at my sale. Savagerrray @ Siekert Weapon Works L.L.C. (Ray)

Alright, let’s see if this checks all the boxes for the “ultimate” factory (but mostly DIY) zombie killer out there.  First off, we have a populated lower receiver group with an unknown “polished fire control group”.  No need to go any further and order anything extra.  Let’s save that money for other upgrades and move on.

I really enjoy the chrome-lined barrel he’s installed on this one.  Even better as it’s from a guy he knows (sounds legit), and apparently it polished up really nice.  Fancy muzzle devices?  Nah, A2 birdcage because we have more upgrades to do.

Once you’ve called your barrel guy, and slapped a sweet “zombie killer green” paint job on there, there’s really only one thing left to do.  Get yourself a sweet adjustable tactical-looking stock.  This of course is a must.  We all know looking cool while “bench firing a 30 round banana” is fun, but let’s not forget about ergonomics from, well let’s just say not Magpul.

The zombie fad is seemingly neverending, just like the AMC’s token series “The Walking Dead”.  I really don’t know if there’s a market for these guns anymore, or if we’re just seeing old ideas dumped on the market.  So is it worth it for the price?  Well, as always, I leave it up to you, the readers, to decide.
