3D printing is a fascinating industry. From plastics to metals, and suppressors are no exception. Our Photo Of The Day contains a titanium suppressor from Germany’s Oberland Arms. The picture and story are from Schrombo, used with permission. Please check his Instagram out.

    Schrombo’s caption:
Traditionally the world of suppressors is divided into two very distinct groups: on the one hand there are suppressors for bolt-action and single-shot rifles and then there are the suppressors for semi- and full-auto firearms. And the main difference between those two groups ist the heat that they have to manage. A traditional bolt-action hunting rifle will only put a few shots through a suppressor while an AR15 might put several 30rd mags worth of ammo in rapid succession through its suppressor.
This vastly different amount of firepower and therefore heat that a suppressor has to endure, dictates the material it gets made off. For low volume of fire/heat suppressors are made of aluminium while high volume of fire/heat result in the use of steel with the accompanying dramatic increase in weight.
Now let’s see, how Oberland Arms decided to tackle that dilemma!
So this is not just another suppressor – this is the Oberland Arms KDA II Titan 3D!
As the name suggests, this suppressor is 3D-printed from titanium; it has an inner ceramic coating that’s heat resistant to 1,200 degrees Celsius and it clocks the scales at only 240g / 8.5oz. I can hardly stress how little weight this is – especially if you consider that this is a suppressor designed for automatic rifles! You barely notice the installed suppressor and that translates to superior handling characteristics! The outside has a golfball-like dimpled surface to reduce mirage and the KDA II 3D keeps back pressure to an absolute minimum.
The interface for the KDA II 3D is a custom flash hider (there are muzzle brakes available, too) that has external left-handed threads.
This beauty is a real-life game changer!
