POTD: Iron Works – So You Like the Škorpion vz. 61?

    Škorpion vz. 61

Elliott Erwitt, a French-born American photographer, once said that The whole point of taking pictures is so that you don’t have to explain things with words. While we understand what he means, it’s not that easy. Here at TFB we like to add a story and a background – a so-called context. In our Photo Of The Day, we’re looking at dozens of brand new Škorpion vz. 61 SMGs. It’s pretty amazing to find boxes full of these legends and we thank Iron Works from Czechoslovakia for sharing these images.

The Škorpion vz. 61 has been used by the  Czechoslovak Army vehicle crews, for instance by drivers, armoured vehicle personnel and various special forces. It is still in service around the world. Currently, the weapon is in use with the armed forces of several countries as a sidearm.

The Škorpion is a straight blowback-operated select-fire weapon. It fires from the closed bolt.

Even the holsters are brand new.
