POTD: The Chiappa PAK-9

    Chiappa PAK-9

    Chiappa PAK-9 in 9×19 mm:

I’m no gunsmith – not by any stretch of the imagination. But I have a few nice tools at my disposal and I really like to use them. So when I ordered this Chiappa PAK-9 pistol I immediately began picturing in my mind, what I’d to to it. So when the two PAK-9 finally arrived after some three month waiting for them, everything was ready to go.
After removing the rear sling swivel and realizing that Chiappa had already drilled and threaded a M10 screw hole right where I needed it, I only drilled a 10mm hole through a buffertube adapter, made a matching M10 screw with a massive nut to hold it in place and voilà! Then a SaberTube stock from BattleArms Development went into the adapter, a Meopta red dot sight was mounted to the factory picatinny rail atop the receiver cover, the Glock magazine adapter that came with the gun was installed, an ETS 30rd Glock mag with original Glock +2 floor plates was thrown into the mix… and when I wanted to shoot some fotos, the battery on my Sony cam was depleted. So this time I had to use my iPhone to take the picture – but it’s not too bad.
So there you have it – a handy little 9mm carbine that takes Glock mags!
And after spending an hour at my lathe, the Chiappa PAK-9 now has a folding stock – with a folding stock adapter from Hera Arms, an AR15 pistol buffer tube by Phase 5 Tactical and a butt plate by Battle Arms Development. The stock folds to the left, so it doesn’t interfere with the operation of the gun.

Here are some of ‘s other 9mms: GSG MP40 in caliber 9×19 – Walther PP in 7.65×17, Cloning the Heckler & Koch MP5 and Smith & Wesson Model 3913NL in 9×19.

You can find the PAK-9 here or TFB’s own article: 9mm Kalashnikov – The Chiappa AK-9 Pistol.
