Desert Tech unveiled their new Quattro-15 lower alongside a new Quadmag-53 at SHOT Show 2022. Using a quad-stack design, the Quattro-15 paired with the QuadMag-53 looks to bring more capacity to your favorite AR-15 upper. Desert Tech was kind enough to show me all the features of their new lower and magazine on the floor at SHOT Show 2022.
[SHOT 2022] Desert Tech Quattro-15 and QuadMag-53
The Quatro-15 lower is windowed to save weight and features upgraded AR controls. Its design allows for the user to use the new QuadMag 53 round magazine, or any legacy AR-pattern magazine. While a legacy mag wasn’t on display, you can see a definitive center rib in the mag well to accommodate those legacy AR-pattern magazines. This makes the Quattro-15 more feature-rich for existing AR-15 owners that already have a couple dozen AR-pattern mags laying around. The Quadmag-53 is Desert Tech’s in-house solution for feed problems that can be commonly found in aftermarket quad stack or drum magazines. Quadmag-53 is actually slightly shorter than a standard capacity polymer magazine and feels about as wide as roughly two polymer AR mags taped together. QuadMag certainly wasn’t where the development ended, and the Quattro-15 lower was very feature-rich. The lower features an ambi and oversized safety and bolt release as well. Desert tech indicated the lower would ship as pictured with the proprietary safety and bolt release pre-populated. From there you can pick your favorite flavor grip, trigger, and takedown pins to finish out your Quattro-15 lower. The Quattro-15 was shown on various length AR-pattern uppers, and Desert Tech indicated it will accept any existing AR-15 pattern upper. Desert Tech indicates the magazine and receiver will be coming to market later this year. The Quattro-15 receiver will have an MSRP of $299 and the Quadmag-53 will feature an MSRP of $75. Additionally, these two will be sold together as a package (receiver with mag) for $350.Here’s some more coverage of the Quattro-15 from the guys over at TFBtv. A special thank you to the staff at Desert Tech for taking the time to answer all our questions.
