H&K unveiled the new VP9 SK OR (Optics Ready) at today’s Industry Day at the Range. This newest addition to the VP9 lineup adds features to the carry model as well as some new refinements.  H&K was kind enough to walk me through the new pistol and let me try out their newest optics-ready variant.

The VP9 lineup continues to grow each year, and 2022 was no exception. Not only did the new VP9 SK OR feature an optics cut, but received a slew of minor tweaks and upgrades as well.

First and foremost is this new magazine extension. From the factory, the SK OR will ship with a 13 round magazine and a 10 round magazine. However, HK was keen to show off this additional baseplate (that can be purchased from their web store) that brings the capacity up to 15 rounds.

It’s worth pointing out that any legacy full-size magazines (like the 20 round mag pictured here) will work in the VP9 SK OR. While not exactly aesthetically pleasing, it does work great as a backup magazine.

Just like the magazines, the VP9 SK OR will also use the legacy VP9 baseplates that are currently available via their web store. These come in a variety of different patterns to mount whatever red dot your heart desires.

Last but certainly not least is a slight tweak to the “wings” (as they’re commonly referred to) at the rear of the slide. The SK OR features larger wings that make racking the pistol easier and are a perfect addition to this subcompact.

HK indicated the VP9 SK OR would be coming to market very shortly with an MSRP of $899.00.  Special thank you to the booth staff at HK for their time and help.
