SILENCER SATURDAY #210: Suppressor Owner Survey - Prizes!

Good afternoon everyone and thank you for joining us for TFB’s Silencer Saturday brought to you by our friends at Yankee Hill Machine, manufacturer’s of the YHM R9 centerfire suppressor. Last week we discussed the warning letter that the ATF sent to alleged customers of Diversified Machine. With the arrival of the new year, I thought a suppressor owner survey of what is important to you, our readers would be a good idea. Plus, it’s so bitterly cold here that shooting the LMT ION 30 again (as I promised) is going to have to wait.

SILENCER SATURDAY #210: Suppressor Owner Survey – Prizes!

First off, there was a broad range of comments to last week’s ATF Warning Letter post. Some of you gave the “see, I told you so” response to solvent traps, other’s were concerned with search and seizure possibilities, while other’s shrugged it off as a fishing expedition. Again, as much as I detest the National Firearms Act, possessing a suppressor without an approved Form 1 or Form 4 is a violation of law. Stay safe out there.

As I said above, because of the January cold snap we need to pause reviews to prevent frostbite and general grumpiness. I have also noticed that trying to evaluate suppressors with a snow-covered ground is  difficult. The sound reflects back making the report feel louder than just grass and leaves.I usually try to plow part of the range to make it a little better; after all, we can’t just wait for spring.

But while we wait for a thaw, I want to hear from all of you. Likes, dislikes, requests, hopes, dreams – let’s hear them. I spend all of my time talking to you, but the only time I get to listen is in the Disqus comments. And I can understand if most of you don’t feel like entering that weekly debate circle. I really want to know more about your suppressor ownership and uses; it will help me better understand our readers and develop better content.

This isn’t a data-mining operation – leave off your email, let me know you don’t want your data shared with anyone else or simply just don’t participate. No one has asked me to run a survey, this is just a way to make Silencer Saturday better. Note: No, I’m not changing the name of the series to Suppressor Saturday.

As far as prizes go, I’m still putting everything together. At a minimum I will pay for one tax stamp for the winner of a randomized drawing with some swag for second and third place. No purchase necessary, one entry per person, not available where prohibited by law, and we reserve the right to make any changes as needed.

Thank you for helping us make TFB’s Silencer Saturday a great place for NFA information, reviews, and product releases. Be safe, have fun and we’ll see you next weekend for another Silencer Saturday.
