Welcome everyone to the 126th edition of ‘Hot Gat or Fudd Crap?’, one of our many series here on TFB. If you’re new to the series, this is where we look at the most obscure firearms that are actually for sale and ask the question – is this Gat a sweet deal or only has a Fudd appeal?  Each week the TFB staff weighs in with their thoughts, but readers get the final say in the poll at the bottom of each article.

In our last edition, our poll showed that you, the readers, showed that the zombie-themed pony was a hot gat…just.

At this time, the original auction remains up with the zombie yellow-painted gat still up for grabs. We hope this rifle finds its way to a new home in the near future.

In this week’s edition of HGFC, we look at a Bomber Betty-themed AR-15 chambered in .223 Wylde. As is tradition, this WWII Bomber-themed gat is currently up for sale on GunBroker for $1,695.00 Starting Bid or $1,995.00 But It Now.

Let’s see what the Staff had to say about this week’s offering:

“This is the kind of AR-15 sought after by the old guy who picks up your brass at the range without asking.” – Tim C.

If the movie ‘Pearl Harbor’ was a gun, this would be it. – Matt M.

While pin-up girls weren’t in fashion while I was growing up, I do remember the strange AR furniture epidemic following the end of the assault weapons ban.  In the years following 2004, there was a seemingly decade-long battle for who had the best stock or what grip was more ergonomic. Now when I see custom rifles with off-brand furniture, I can’t help but wonder if someone built it in 2008 and then seemingly forgot about it.

Overall, I can see someone getting very excited about this gun while explaining its strong suits to someone who’s equally disinterested. I’m sure .223 Wylde has its merits, but I’m not seeing a mass of factory rifles with .223 Wylde barrels. Between the furniture choice, barrel choice, and an interesting choice of ambi safety, overall the gun looks like it was built for someone specific, who then changed their mind.

So is this WWII bomber livery inspired AR-15 worth it for the price?  Or is this gun just far too overpriced for what it is?  As always I leave it up to you, the readers, to decide.
