Using a shotgun for home defense, like anything else, has pros and cons. One of the biggest cons is the limited capacity that comes with a tube-fed shotgun. One way to increase your capacity is to make the shells themselves shorter, and that’s exactly what Federal has done. Expanding their line of Personal Defense rounds for 2022, these are the Force X2 Shorty shotshells from Federal Premium.

NEW Force X2 Shorty Shotshells From Federal
Federal has combined the power of two of our newest technologies to create a shotshell option that changes the nature of self-defense. Force X2TM ShortyTM shells measure just 1 3⁄4 inches but hold a payload of six 00 segmenting buckshot engineered to split into two equal pieces on impact.
These new shells from Federal are purpose-built for the personal defense market. They utilize a small 1 3/4″ hull which contains six 00 buck pellets. The buckshot is segmented and designed to split in half on impact. This potentially doubles the number of wound channels, while also severely decreasing the risk of overpenetration. The pellets are copper-plated for better target penetration. The six pellets fly downrange at 1245 feet per second. The X2 Shorty shotshells offer a much higher capacity in your magazine tube, giving you more chances to walk away from the fight. There are 10 shells per box.
