Budget Carry Optics: The Taurus GX4 T.O.R.O Is Finally Here!

Budget Carry Optics: The Taurus GX4 T.O.R.O Is Finally Here!

The newest iteration of Taurus’ successful GX4 micro-compact 9mm pistol is finally here. The Taurus GX4 T.O.R.O (Taurus Optics Ready Option) has just been announced. It will be compatible with many of the market’s most popular red dot sights and features a lot of flexibility in terms of optics selection for budget-minded customers. If you’ll remember, we reviewed the Taurus GX4 when it was released earlier this year and so far I and Hop of TFBTV have been very pleased with the pistol but have been anticipating the release of the T.O.R.O version of the pistol which we had assumed would be coming soon due to the fact that the G3C T.O.R.O worked so well.

The Taurus GX4 series pistols lead the micro-pistol class with their 11-, or 13-round capacity, durable finish, ergonomics, and exceptional accuracy. The Taurus GX4 offers minimal printing even when worn under light clothing yet delivers the firepower and performance serious personal defense practitioners demand in an EDC/CCW handgun.

The GX4 T.O.R.O features a primarily RMS pattern optics cut but has a removable peg system similar to the Ruger Max-9 which allows the user to put other optics like a Holosun 407k or 507k on it without having to permanently modify the pistol. According to Taurus, the GX4 T.O.R.O is compatible with the Shield RMSc, Sightmark Mini Shot A-Spec M3, Hex Wasp GE5077-MIC-RET, SIG RomeoZero, Riton 3 Tactix MPRD2, and the Trijicon RMR cc (with the optional adapter place P/NL 20048396).

Other than the optics upgrade, the GX4 remains the same exact pistol, although, Tuaurs will be shipping the GX4 T.O.R.O with one flush fit 11-round magazine as well as one extended 13-round magazine instead of the two flush-fit magazines that come with the standard GX4 (versions with two 10-round magazines are also available). The GX4 T.O.R.O will sell for an MSRP of $468.18 which is about $76 more expensive than the standard version. What do you guys think of this latest iteration of the GX4?
