Welcome everyone to the 117th edition of ‘Hot Gat or Fudd Crap?’, one of our many series here on TFB. If you’re new to the series, this is where we look at the most obscure firearms that are actually for sale and ask the question – is this Gat a sweet deal or only has a Fudd appeal? Each week the TFB staff weighs in with their thoughts, but readers get the final say in the poll at the bottom of each article.
In our last edition, our poll showed that you, the readers, found the Springfield M1A to be a hot gat.
At this time the original auction remains up with the Springfield M1A still up for grabs. We hope this retro gat can find its way to a new home in the near future.
In this week’s edition of HGFC, we look at a Nintendo Zapper themed Glock 19. As is tradition, this nostalgia-fueled gat is currently up for sale on GunBroker for $1,000 Buy It Now.
HOT GAT or FUDD CRAP?
Duck Hunt Blaster or Deserved Dumpster Zapper?
Let’s see what the Staff had to say about this week’s offering:
“We’ve all seen this done before and this is probably the poorest showing of this idea we’ve seen in a long time… Fudd Crap.” – Adam S.
“The dog chuckles at this weak attempt. I’d only carry this Glock if I had to walk down Hogan’s alley” – Rusty S.
“Sorry to be CONTRArian but I had to Punch Out this comment to say this is a piece of Metal Gear that I would Pac, Man.” – James Reeves
“All that cerakote work, and they reinstalled the factory sights. Fudd crap.” – Daniel Y.
Selling this 90’s Nintendo themed gat is GunBroker seller FDAMLLC, located in Tonganoxie KS. Let’s see what they had to say about this zapper themed Glock 19.
Custom Cerakote Glock 19 G3 Nintendo Zapper. All Cerakote is covered for life, we only cover defects with the cerakote, not carelessness or damage. If the cerakote is damaged we charge a $75 fee to repair. Please read all layaway rules carefully, once you have made a deposit there are no refunds.
Early arcade games like Time Crisis gave players that tactile shooting feel (albeit without the recoil) for a more realistic first person shooter experience. Like all revolutionary technological ideas, it was the one you could buy, take home, and play in your living room that we all remember. For a lot of us 80’s-90’s kids that was the Nintendo Zapper, and we’ll forever be haunted by images of a laughing dog reminding us of how many ducks we’d missed.
Video games and firearms have been at a pivotal crossroads over the past two decades. While the Zapper wasn’t based on a real firearm (that I know of) I’m sure it subconsciously inspired a new generation of shooting enthusiasts. This is of course where things start to get interesting. Just like airsoft rifles/pistols have orange muzzles, it’s commonly illegal for actual pistols/rifles to have orange muzzles. Do I smile a little bit looking at this paint job? Maybe. Would I carry this Glock 19? Absolutely not.
So where do toy-themed Cerakoted guns from your childhood land? Is it worth the extra money for that nostalgia or overall does this feel like a waste? As always I leave it up to you, the readers, to decide.
