[ADIHEX 2021] Caracal from the United Arab Emirates – Golden Jubilee
ADIHEX is always a good chance for the Emirati firearm manufacturer Caracal to show its products to the public, in their hometown of Abu Dhabi, UAE. This year, together with military firearms, polymer pistols, and Merkel hunting rifles, the company showcased a special pistol meant to celebrate the 50 years of the United Arab Emirates.

[ADIHEX2021] Caracal from the United Arab Emirates – Golden Jubilee
The “UAE 50th Anniversary CARACAL 2011 Pistol” is a highly collectible piece of modern firearm art that separates itself clearly from the standard products of the company.
Designed to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the declaration of the Union, the pistol was offered at ADIHEX in 50 pieces, with serial numbers UAE01 to UAE50. The ones in these photos, 01 to 03, were to be given to members of the royal family.
The new series of anniversary pistols will be offered, with personalized serial numbers, from December 2, 2021, up to December 2, 2022.
Mechanically the handgun is a double-stack, 17 rounds, 1911 model chambered in 9×19 Luger. The slide and the upper frame with integral dust cover are machined from billets of “high tensile steel 39NiCrMo4″ vacuum heat-treated and finished with a very dark and rich blueing. The grip module is machined out of Al7075 alloy, then hard anodized.
The 5” barrel and the controls are coated with Titanium Nitride, a finish that matches excellent wear resistance with a bright gold tone. Tolerances are very tight, with no play between the frame and the slide, giving the feel of a potentially very accurate pistol, if ever it will be actually shot.
While the mechanical components just have a golden look, the slide is inlaid with actual 24-carat gold. The engraving and the gold inlaying were performed in Italy by master engravers. Also handmade in Italy is the luxury carry case the pistol is offered with, in Cape Buffalo leather with suede upholstery.
To complement the anniversary pistol, LAHAB Light Ammunition, from the EDGE Group as well, offered a special-edition commemorative box of 50 9×19 Luger rounds sporting the UAE50 headstamp.
ADIHEX also offered the opportunity to take another look at the awesome .338 Lapua semiautomatic sniper rifle that we saw at IDEX 2021. The model seems to be going toward production, hopefully with attention to the commercial market as well.
