Welcome everyone to the 113th edition of ‘Hot Gat or Fudd Crap?’, one of our many series here on TFB. If you’re new to the series, this is where we look at the most obscure firearms that are actually for sale and ask the question – is this Gat a sweet deal or only has a Fudd appeal? Each week the TFB staff weighs in with their thoughts, but readers get the final say in the poll at the bottom of each article.
In our last edition, our poll showed that you, the readers, decided the limited Colt King Cobra was fudd crap.
At this time the original auction has ended after a 59-bid bidding war. Congratulations to GunBroker buyer kduerr on your purchase of what you’ve deemed a hot gat.
In this week’s edition of HGFC, we look at a custom Ranch Hand-themed Ruger Charger in 22LR. As is tradition, this cerakoted Ruger is currently up for sale on GunBroker for $715 Buy It Now.
HOT GAT or FUDD CRAP?
Ranch Hand or Can’t Stand this Ruger 22 Charger?
Let’s see what the Staff had to say about this week’s offering:
“Gross” – Nick C.
“Someone found the Fuddsetta Stone” – James Reeves
“It looks like somebody dropped it in cow shit and didn’t bother to wipe it off.” – Lucas D.
Selling this ranch hand themed gat is GunBroker seller Iron Restoration Company, located in Stonewall TX. Let’s see what they had to say about this custom Ruger 22 Charger.
This brand new Ruger 22 Charger comes with a custom laser engraved stock and grip! The engraved stock showcases cattle brands colorfilled with Copper Cerakote for a pop of color. We have engraved the grip with a chain link fence pattern for maximum control. The entire Charger has been Cerakoted in Armour Black and Copper to provide maximum rust, corrosion, and daily wear protection.
Every step of the process is done right here at The Iron Restoration Company; from the initial design concept, laser engraving, and Cerakote application.

The Ruger 22 Charger is one of those niche guns that you’d expect to be owned by someone who uses the word “plinking” far too often. It’s technically a pistol, but it falls into that strange “I don’t know how else to describe it category”. In this case, that’s nice as I really don’t know how to describe this cerakote job.
I’m not sure if those symbols are supposed to be various brands, or if I’m looking at a strange interpretation of an Ouija board. Either way, I’m surprised the seller committed to making ten of these for this listing. Like all Ruger 10/22 pattern rifles, I’m sure this charger is a ton of fun to shoot. With the ability to accept a silencer and an optic, this gun would provide plenty of cheap thrills at the range. Well, I guess if you agree with the theme.
I’m clearly not the biggest fan of the Ruger 22 Charger or this particular paint scheme. However, it’s not up for me to determine the fate of this custom Ruger. As always I leave it up to you, the readers, to decide.
What do you think? Is this Ruger 22 Charger a Hot Gat or some strangely Cerakoted Fudd Crap? Be sure to let us know in the comments below, and cast your vote to let us know if this Ruger 22 Charger ‘Ranch Hand’ Edition is a Hot Gat or Fudd Crap:
