Welcome to TFB Weekly Amazon Deals 14. Targets can be fun. I grew up shooting a whole bunch of different “reactive” targets like soda cans, empty shotgun hulls, bowling pins, and just about any other piece of junk that could be cleaned up reasonably easily after we were done shooting. One thing I didn’t get a chance to shoot until I was much older was steel. After my first experience shooting steel, I was in love and to this day, it absolutely remains my favorite thing to shoot – there’s just something satisfying about ringing steel, no matter what type of firearm it is. For this week’s Amazon deals, I’ve gathered a lineup of some on-sale steel targets for a variety of types of ammunition and I’ve also included some deals that will help you hang those targets at the range. Let’s get started with this week’s Amazon deals.

Normally I just use shepherd’s hook plant hangers to hang my steel targets but the problem with those is that they easily become deformed or outright break after repeated use or if accidentally shot. An alternative and far longer-lasting option is the Highwild Target stand system. This target stand features a four-legged stand and a durable heavy-gauge steel top with a compression spring that allows you to mount targets with a 2×4 cut to the length that you desire. The best part is that all the critical components are shielded by your steel target and the only destructible part is easily and inexpensively replaced. The Highwild Steel Target stand system is available for $69.99.
I’ve featured this style of target previously in our past deals posts and I’ll do it again here because it is one of my favorite types of targets that I still enjoy shooting. While Caldwell makes a far better version of this target, if you’re looking for a budget version then the KNINE OUTDOORS version looks nearly identical in form and function. This particular target is currently on sale for $16.83 which puts it at nearly half the price of the superior Caldwell option. Gotta be careful with this one though, it won’t handle anything over .22LR in velocity.
Stepping up from the smaller targets and speaking of Caldwell, we’ve got the Caldwell 3/8-inch thick AR500 steel targets. These targets are rated for rifle calibers and make use of 1/2″ carriage bolts for fastening to your target stand. This particular 33% sized IPSC target is currently on sale for $32.31 and when combined with the target stand mentioned up above should make for a challenging and fun training aid. If you’re looking for something slightly different than an IPSC target, Caldwell also has tons of other steel targets rated for everything from air guns to high-velocity rifles at caldwellshooting.com.
This target is great for practicing your precision while still getting the fun that comes with shooting steel. This 10-inch gong features a primary 3″ center target made from 3/8-inch AR500 steel and is surrounded by more steel. Scoring a hit on the center target will give you a visual and audible indication that you’re on target while misses will still show you where you’ve impacted and sound just a hair bit different. While the kit comes complete with center target stickers, I’m certain those won’t last but an impact or two so I’d recommend some Krylon spraypaint for keeping that center target nice and bright for you to see. The Highwild AR500 Steel Bullseye target is available for $59.99.
These laser-cut gongs are a great way to get yourself a whole set of targets to shoot at for an affordable price. With a perfect 5-star rating in reviews (with over 100 reviews so far) these targets look absolutely promising and would be a great way to work on your transitions between targets or for use at distance with a rifle. The package contains a set of 5 targets ranging from 3-inches all the way up to 10-inches and all the targets are made from rifle-rated 3/8-inch thick steel. According to the listing, they can withstand up to 308 impacts as close as 100 yards and can sustain impacts from bullets traveling greater than 3000 fps at 200-yards. The set of 5 targets is currently on sale for $74.95 which has been the lowest price I’ve seen on these over the last month.
Some of the frustration with steel targets comes from their weight and portability issues. When it comes to a turnkey solution, Caldwell has a great option with their Magnum Rifle Swinger target set. The set includes a 4-inch square target made from AR500 steel (3/8-inch thick) that is mounted to a swinger and this is, in turn, mounted to its included four-legged stand. The entire set disassembles and can be packed away in a large duffle bag and each of the legs can be replaced with 1/2-inch thick rebar if they become too shot up. Normally this target stand set is sold for $100 but it is currently on sale for $71.99 at the time of writing.
