Springfield Armory's NEW Optics-Ready XD-M Elite 10mm Compact
As winter approaches, new challenges enter the concealed carry arena. Heavy clothing on a bad guy and four-legged predator attacks while hunting means that many of us opt for more potent calibers. The ebb and flow of 10mm’s popularity aside, there is no debate that the caliber’s power can solve most problems. With these capabilities in mind, Springfield Armory has introduced a 10mm compact pistol option for those of us looking for that added punch. This is the Springfield Armory XD-M Elite 3.8” Compact OSP 10mm pistol.
Springfield Armory @ TFB:
Combining potent power with cutting-edge performance, the new XD-M® Elite 3.8” Compact OSP™ 10mm provides concealed carry users with an outstanding defensive pistol option. Compact yet powerful, the pistol packs in 11+1 rounds of 10mm and is available with or without a HEX™ Dragonfly™ red dot. An optional 15-round extended magazine is also available.
NEW Optics-Ready XD-M Elite 10mm Compact

Breaking News: Four-legged predators wear clothing in the winter.
Well here in Texas we don't have to many bears (yes a few black ones and lots of illegals but no big brown or white ones.)
I emailed the Alaskan Parks and Wildlife and they said they used 3 inch Black Magic slugs. Seems after watching lots of Alaskan shows I noticed the Game Wardens DIDN'T USE BEAR SPRAY... None.. nada.. I kind of wondered about that and so I emailed them.
They said Foster type slugs did not have enough penetration.
Oh and if I was to go back to Alaska (been there before) I'd take my Glock 29sf... but I would also take my Mossberg 500 Mariner with same Brenneke slugs. I don't eat bear... and I don't want bear to eat me... or Moose to stomp me... nor thieves to visit me. A Mossie 500 is very light weight. Just have a 4 shot tac-star side saddle and maybe 4 in the mag and 4 on the side saddle with a good sling to allow you to tote it. The 10mm is just in case one drops the ball and gets surprised.
10mm and a 12 gauge will go far to alleviate all concerns.
