POTD: Swiss Special Forces with Sturmgewehr 90
Photo Of The Day: Finally we have some excellent pictures of the Swiss Special Forces, Kommando Spezialkräfte. The captions say they’re searching a building, in combat gear with their Sturmgewehr 90 rifles. The location is the Swiss Special Forces Training Centre, Demo19. The SIG SG 550 is called Stgw-90 (in German) or Fass-90 (in French) in the Swiss Army and it’s manufactured by Swiss Arms AG. The rifle is gas-operated with a long-stroke piston and fires from a closed bolt.
The Swiss Army uses the SG 550, SG 552 and SG 553. Although it is a completely different rifle, it reminds me of an FN FNC. Do you agree?
For more on these SIG rifles, you can check out the “ POTD: SIG Sport 552” and “ Interview with SIG 550 Series Importer Dave Wagner” articles. Stay tuned for more Swiss Special Forces in the near future.

The heaviest 556 rifle I’d want to own
"excellent pictures"- if by that you mean a sharp thumbnail.
Where are the pixels!
