The KelTec P50 was announced much to the surprise of the gun industry at the beginning of the year but since then we really haven’t heard much about the new pistol or any of its accessories. Many of you will remember the deliberate decision of Kel Tec not wanting to ship the P50 with any sort of Picatinny rail adapter or with any clear way to attach a brace to the rest of the gun. However, the folks over at Custom Smith MFG saw the writing on the wall and made the decision to produce a simple and affordable aftermarket option for mounting a brace or stock (if you decide to SBR the pistol) – the CSM P50 Pic Rail Adapter.

New CSM P50 Pic Rail for the KelTec P50 from Custom Smith MFG

The setup and installation instructions for the CSM P50 are fairly straightforward. All that is needed is for you to remove the two rear factory socket screws and install the adapter and then use the two screws that come with the CSM-50 to secure the pic rail adapter to the back of the gun. After that, you can choose to mount anything that is compatible with a standard Picatinny rail including a stock if you plan on going the NFA route. It appears like the adapter might be able to accommodate a complete side folding brace like the TF1913 or FS1913 from SB Tactical.

One potential downside that the design of the CSM P50 has is that it kind of obscures access to the rear-mounted charging handle of the P50, however until I get one in my hands, I can’t really speak as to how this will affect the manual of arms. The piece is constructed from Nylon 12 polymer and comes with 2 M3x16mm hex socket screws.
