TFB Weekly Amazon Deals 6: National Book Lover's Day
Welcome to TFB Weekly Amazon Deals 6: National Book Lover’s Day! Gun enthusiasts are actually quite lucky when it comes to the amount of reference material we have available to us within the firearms world. Regardless of what your specific niche within the firearms world is, you’re more than likely to be able to find a book that covers that specific topic. Better yet, Amazon started its journey off decades ago by providing bookworms with direct access to books online rather than at their local Barnes & Noble or Books A Million. Amazon has continued that tradition well into today and there are a bunch of gun-related books to be found on the site. This week I’m happy and proud to feature a book that was written by our very own Miles V of TFBTV. Miles’ book, Into Helmand With the Walking Dead: A Story of Combat in Afghanistan, is all about his and his friend’s experiences during the war in Afghanistan. The book is currently available on the Amazon book store for $17.46 for the hardcover version (normally $36.00). If you’re in the mood for tales of life and combat during the Afghanistan war, I can 100% recommend Miles’ book to you.

Considered by many to be the great grandfather of all modern firearms, John Moses Browning is both a legendary and iconic figure within the firearms world. The book by Nathan Gorenstein covers many of the firearms that Browning invented and covered several interesting bits of his life that are sure to satisfy the gun enthusiast in all of us. If you’re unsure of whether or not this book might be for you, fellow writer Sam S. did a review of this book.
This offering will either be a great read for you or perhaps the most painful thing you have ever read. Rumor has it that James Reeves has at least 12 copies stored in his basement in case the one he keeps on his coffee table ever becomes worn or damaged. In all seriousness, The Book of Glock features some great reference material for all of you polymer wonder 9 fanboys and features detailed information on all Glock models released before March 13th, 2018. The book also features detailed schematics for each model of pistol feature.
The Book of Glock is currently on sale for $16.53 in paperback form or $14.99 for the Kindle version.
The 7th Edition of Massad Ayoob’s Book of Combat Handgunnery is great teaching material for both new and old handgunners alike. The book goes into Massad’s very own experiences and assessment of both defensive handgun techniques as well as the types of equipment and firearms that are available to us. Massad runs the Massad Ayoob Group where he teaches people practical shooting techniques and tactics and has also written for law enforcement and martial arts publications giving him a wide array of experience when it comes to self-defense and use of force situations.
The battle for Rhodesia is both an important and poorly understood section of history that I feel many could benefit from reading upon. The book covers the exploits of one Captain Russell Watt of the Rhodesian SAS.
During the West’s great transition into the post-Colonial age, the country of Rhodesia refused to succumb quietly, and throughout the 1970s fought back almost alone against Communist-supported elements that it did not believe would deliver proper governance. During this long war many heroes emerged, but none more skillful and courageous than Captain Darrell Watt of the Rhodesian SAS, who placed himself at the tip of the spear in the deadly battle to resist the forces of Robert Mugabe and Joshua Nkomo.
Hailed by many as the “definitive guide to firearms” the Smithsonian’s Firearms: An Illustrated History contains many high-quality pictures of firearms both modern and historical. The book features over 300 high-quality pictures of various firearms along with their history, use, and employment within various militaries across the globe.
