Vortex Optics has announced the latest addition to their Razor HD LHT range, the 4.5-22×50 scope with a first focal plane reticle. The HD LHT lineup has been very popular with long range hunters and shooters. Adding an FFP option is sure to be a hit with the target audience.

I have had many discussions with potential purchasers about the Razor HD LHT, and the second vs. first focal plane issue was usually the only concern the consumer would raise. Second focal plane scopes (where the reticle never changes scale) have always been prevalent with hunters. First focal plane optics gained popularity in the tactical and competition world, but are becoming more popular with hunters too.

The weight of this scope is particularly interesting, at 21.7 ounces. The second focal plane 3-15×50 model weighs in at 20.5 ounces. Adding those features with only a one-ounce weight penalty is impressive. And with a 30mm tube, illuminated reticle, and HD glass, the Razor HD LHT has an excellent features-per-ounce ratio.

    From Vortex Optics:

Western hunting demands an optic built for long range and the long haul, and the Razor® HD LHT™ 4.5-22×50 FFP delivers. You still get the core of the Razor® HD LHT™, including a stunning HD optical system and rugged build in a hunting scope that’s among the lightest in its class. Where the Razor® HD LHT™ 4.5-22×50 FFP distances itself is in offering more magnification, and a first focal plane reticle featuring the XLR-2 reticle system, which is intuitive, easy to use, and illuminated. You also get our RevStop™ Zero System for a reliable return to zero after dialing in the field, and a locking elevation turret keeps your zero safe.

The new Razor HD LHT is available at retailers now, with a listed MSRP of $1,999.
