Welcome everyone to the 102nd edition of ‘Hot Gat or Fudd Crap?’, one of our many series here on TFB. If you’re new to the series, this is where we look at the most obscure firearms that are actually for sale and ask the question – is this Gat a sweet deal or only has a Fudd appeal? Each week the TFB staff weighs in with their thoughts, but readers get the final say in the poll at the bottom of each article.
In our last edition, our poll showed that you, the readers, decided the custom turquoise Deagle was a hot gat.
In this week’s edition of HGFC, we look at a Girsan Regard in 9mm with a custom gold finish. As is tradition, this engraved gold gat is currently up for sale on GunBroker for $1,374 Starting Bid or $1,375 Buy It Now.
HOT GAT or FUDD CRAP?
Turkish Treasure or Fudd’s Delight?
Let’s see what the Staff had to say about this week’s offering:
“When you Google “truffle butter,” you’ll get 3 search results: a Drake song, this gun, and one other search result.” – Adam S.
“Sadaam taste, Osama budget” – James Reeves
“Andre Baptiste Jr. from “Lord of War” called, said this was too ostentatious even for him.” – Will P.
“The market for gold plated knockoffs of Italian luxury goods is out of control” – Rusty S.
“This is the firearm equivalent of a massive spoiler on a clapped out Dodge Neon” – Daniel Y.
“Remake of the Romeo and Juliet remake” – Pete
“Romeo + Juliet + Lack of Good Taste =” – Hop
Selling this gold-clad gat is GunBroker seller fbgunsandammo, located in Frankfort KS. Let’s see what they had to say about this engraved Turkish 9mm.

While the pistol may (or may not) be new in the box, the wear at the front of the slide doesn’t inspire confidence. Maybe this gun was just racked a few too many times while showcasing it to potential clientele. We’ll never know.
While I can certainly see the appeal of guns like this Regard, I’ve always preferred to get the real thing. Like all clones, when the original gun is still on the market, I’d much prefer to have that. Certainly, there’s a market for guns like this (even if it’s small), but there’s still a market. I’m not sure about the reliability and quality of the Regard, but I’d be curious to try it out in a less flashy model.
So is there something I’m missing, and this Girsan Regard is really worth just under $1,400? Or am I correct in thinking this is an overpriced knockoff? As always, I leave it up to you, the readers, to decide.
What do you think? Is this Gold Girsan Regard a Hot Gat or some gaudy Fudd Crap? Be sure to let us know in the comments below, and cast your vote to let us know if this Girsan Regard MC Deluxe is a Hot Gat or Fudd Crap:
