Holosun came on the scene in 2013 with the intent to bring some new product options into the optics and laser/infrared market. Over the course of the last eight years, they have advanced their operations substantially and committed to seek significant improvements in their offerings. As a result of this dedication and growth, today they produce and sell a number of popular optics models, primarily in the red dot/reflex sight space. Their efforts were enough for industry titan Trijicon to take note, as a patent infringement lawsuit between the two optics companies was filed and subsequently settled out of court last year.

Previously, Holosun’s optic product lineups have focused on red dot reticles. Now they’re adding several green options as well, indicating that they’re listening to consumer demand for these additional choices. Although red dots are by far the most common among most optics manufacturers participating in the market today, some shooters prefer green. Numerous factors play into this leaning. For example, among other reasons, it could be a function of eye strain or fatigue, colorblindness, or a simple matter of shooter preference. For shooters who look for options outside of red reticles, green does tend to be the second most typical choice, so Holosun is responding in kind. Current known green options will include both the C and K sizes of the 407 and 507 models. The press release regarding these new optics models, which centers around their 507K version, reads as follows.

THE NEW HOLOSUN HE507K-GR X2 WITH GREEN RETICLE
City of Industry, Ca. –Holosun is releasing several new models with their Super Green LED including the 507K series. Green reticles have some advantages of being an ultra-high contrast color in both daytime and low-light use. The brilliant green reticle of the HE507K-GR X2 enables the shooter to obtain a sight picture instantly against almost any backdrop or lighting conditions.
HE507K-GR X2 is an open reflex pistol optic designed primarily for concealed applications. The HE507K has become the go-to optic for concealed carriers and professional users on backup firearms. The HE507K features HOLOSUN’s Multi-reticle System (MRS) which gives the user an option to use the 32MOA/2MOA Circle-Dot reticle, Circle only, or Dot only. With up to 50,000-hour battery life (on setting 6), is the 507K goes far beyond the industry standard for a green reticle. It also has 12 brightness settings – 10 daytime and 2-night vision-compatible – for all-around use capabilities.
When carrying this optic, there is a wide range of features worth noting. Lock Mode is one such feature. It locks out the button functionality, preventing accidental setting changes if the optic is knocked into something. This, paired with the button redesign adds to the streamlined design which is perfect for concealed carry and backup firearm applications.
The HE507K is very compact measuring just 0.95” tall, 1.60” long, and 0.98” wide. Additional features include a side-mounted battery which enables the user to replace batteries without removing the optic which can require re-zeroing every time.
Overall, this newest addition to the Holosun lineup is worth a closer look and a few glances downrange.
