Federal Ammunition have announced that they have been awarded a 3-year contract with the Defense Ordnance Technology Consortium. The contract will cover the development of new ammunition and ammunition technology with enhanced lethality.

    Federal Ammunition @ TFB:

The announcement doesn’t give much more detail on what the technology development is aiming to accomplish. The Department of Defense’s Defense Ordnance Technology Consortium or DOTC serves as a vehicle to focus armaments system technology research and development. It is part of the wider National Armaments Consortium (NAC). The aim is to streamline acquisitions and technology innovation.

    DOTC describe their mission as:

To enhance our Warfighter’s lethality, survivability and combat effectiveness by facilitating the industrial and academic research, development and technology demonstrations needed to advance and expand our military technological superiority.

One of the DOTC’s many areas of interest is ammunition with the development of improved elements of small arms ammunition including projectiles, primers, propellants.
