Bushnell has just released their latest addition to the laser rangefinder arena – the Prime 1800 6×24 laser rangefinder. The new rangefinder features Bushnell’s new ActivSync Display that automatically switches between red and black to provide the viewer with the best contrast for the current conditions. In addition to the new ActivSync Display, the Prime 1800 also claims to deliver 2X the light transmission over other rangefinders in its class.

Bushnell Releases New Prime 1800 6×24 Laser Rangefinder
The Prime 1800 is the first rangefinder with Bushnell’s new, cutting-edge ActivSync display that fluidly morphs from black to red and back for ideal contrast against your target no matter the lighting. A generous objective lens brings true-to-life colors at 6X magnification to the eye for clear, detailed viewing and enhanced display readability.

The ActivSync display does sound interesting although I’d personally like the option to manually control it as well. The description for the Prime 1800 indicates that the display features “infinitely variable tones” which should mean that the display can adapt itself regardless of how dark or light the target is – an interesting feature that I think might also be neat to include on higher magnification scopes.
The Prime 1800 also features a 50% larger objective lens with an all-glass optical system which should bring more light to your eye for a brighter image even in environments without direct sunlight (heavily wooded areas). The Prime 1800 also features a tripod mount, range updates every quarter of a second, and ranging out to 1800 yards with a plus or minus 1-yard accuracy. Finally, the Prime 1800 comes standard with Angle Range Compensation mode for accurate uphill and downhill shooting.
The Prime 1800 seems like it would be a great fit for long-range precision rifle shooters and also hunters who are hunting in favorable and predictable weather conditions. It’s not the most rugged laser rangefinder on the market but it certainly seems capable and comes with features meant to make things easier on the shooter.
