I can’t understand why someone decided to convert this Fabrica De Itajuba to a pistol, and lets just say those finger grooves on the grip don’t exactly scream quality.  But I guess if you can dream up something dumb enough, there’s someone crazy to do it.

Based on the information I found, this pistol used to look something like this, and was a rocket line launching gun.  So this would have been used with specific ammo (I’m sure is impossible to import) to cast lines over long distances for various purposes.

Given the already obscure and scarce nature of 28Ga ammunition, it would appear this pistol was threaded for chokes for sporting purposes perhaps?  It’s really anyone’s guess on this one, but I’m certainly sure that there’s an interesting history behind this.  Well, at least before it was converted to a pistol.

Is this even remotely interesting to the die hard collector or shotgun enthusiast?  Given the current low price, I think not, but with no reserve the gun will certainly sell.  Is this gun a hot gat though?  As always I leave it up to you, the reader, to decide.
