POTD: Heckler & Koch in U.S. Marine Corps Marksmanship Competition

    U.S. Marine Corps Marksmanship Competition

Photo Of The Day – Established in 2014 this is TFB’s way to show carefully selected photographs on a daily basis. As a bonus, you get a short story and hopefully, you’ll learn something new. Today we’re looking at a Kriegsgewehr. Or is it a Sportsgewehr?

It looks like a brand new rifle, straight out of the box from Heckler & Koch. The lower has the inscription: “Heckler & Koch Gmbh Made in Germany and Heckler & Koch Defense Inc. Ashburn VA.” You can also see it has a Magpul PMAG magazine with Taran Tactical Base Pads, as used by many competitors in IPSC and 3Gun.

What we’re looking at are U.S. Marines as they compete in the annual U.S. Marine Corps Marksmanship Competition at the Marine Corps Base Quantico, Va. earlier this year.  The competition consisted of various live-fire drills under time limits, and pistol marksmanship.

Relay race with a Magpul magazine?

Shooting a handgun was part of the competition as well. What do you find most difficult to shoot accurately, handgun or rifle?
