KVP MACH Linear Comp's 3-Lug Mount Available at Hansohn Brothers
Over the years, TFB has periodically reported on new linear compensator products that have been released. Some previous examples of these devices have included the model that is probably the most well-known take on the linear comp concept: the SureFire Warden, as well as others like the VG6 Precision CAGE device, Area 419’s Hellfire model, and the big-bore TROMIX linear comp, among a number of others. The whole idea behind a linear comp device, for those who haven’t used them and aren’t familiar with them, is essentially to divert muzzle blast forward, away from the shooter as well as anyone around him or her laterally. Particularly for rifles with shorter barrels, this can help turn what would otherwise be a harsh fire-breather into an easier beast to tame. One of the more recent takes on this linear comp idea came from a company called Kaw Valley Precision, or KVP for short. Last year they announced a modular linear comp, dubbed the MACH system.
This product allows the end-user to configure and customize the length of their MACH linear comp by adding one-inch or 3-inch spacers in between your chosen end cap and mounting interface or adapter. One popular mounting interface has long been the tri-lug adapter, available for a variety of different guns and applications but almost certainly made best known on Heckler & Koch’s MP5 series, as well as the many clones that this wildly popular subgun has spawned. A vast number of suppressor and other firearms accessory manufacturers produce their own versions of this 3-lug mount. KVP has now joined their ranks and has announced their MACH-compatible tri-lug mount, now available for purchase from Hansohn Brothers. In addition to KVP’s own system, this $75 MSRP adapter will also work with numerous popular cans such as those listed below, in the official product description. This could be a great alternative to the tri-lug adapters offered by other companies like the SilencerCo version that costs almost twice as much and can sometimes be difficult to find in stock.

I don't get it. What's the point of adding more spacers, which increases the length and weight of the linear comp at the end of your barrel? Does it allow more room for gas to expand inside the linear comp, redirecting more of it forward? Are more spacers recommended for shorter-barreled long guns because of the increased blast and flash they put out with every shot?
