Nestled into Italy’s mountainous northern region, Lombardy, you can find the small town of Lecco. This ancient and picturesque settlement has been the proud home of Fiocchi Munizioni for nearly a century and a half. Fiocchi Ammunition has been producing cartridges and shotshells since its inception in 1876, and began importing ammo into the US in the 1950s. This initial foray into the American market was made possible by virtue of a partnership with Smith & Wesson during that time. The ’50s saw the owning family establish a factory in Alton, Illinois, but this manufacturing effort – and the Smith & Wesson partnership which enabled it – were destined to be short-lived.

It wasn’t until the 1980s, when a fourth-generation ammo maker by the name of Carlo Fiocchi joined his family business in his 20s, that the storied Italian manufacturer fully re-entered the US market. Carlo’s honeymoon to America saw him return to Europe with plans to establish a new US presence. In 1983, Carlo successfully brought his great-grandfather’s company to Missouri – first only as importers, then later adding full manufacturing capabilities. Today the brand domestically produces a significant amount of their ammo sold in America, with some still made in Italy and brought over. Part of their ongoing efforts to meet current skyrocketing ammo demand includes some technological modernizations, one of which is a new website.
