Bergara’s New Micro Rimfire Rifle – The BMR

    Bergara's New Micro Rimfire Rifle

    Bergara Micro Rimfire Carbon

Bergara’s lineup of rimfire rifles has a new addition, the Bergara Micro Rimfire. Unlike the other Bergara rimfires, the BMR is built on a dedicated rimfire micro receiver (the Bergara B-14R mimics the size of a standard short action rifle, and the Bergara BXR is a 10/22-pattern rifle). While it is a smaller action, the BMR is still compatible with standard Remington 700 triggers. The safety, firing pin indicator, and ambidextrous magazine release all appear in the same locations as on centerfire Bergara rifles.

The Bergara Micro Rimfire is available in .22 LR, .22 WMR, and .17 HMR, the most common rimfire competition and varminting calibers. The BMR also has the option for a traditional steel barrel or a lighter and slightly more expensive carbon fiber wrapped barrel. In addition, the BMR also ships with both a 5- and 10-round magazine, a 30 MOA base, and a muzzle threaded 1/2×28 for standard suppressor attachment. Bergara fits an 18” barrel to the .22LR models and a 20” barrel on .22 WMR and .17 HMR models, and Bergara describes the barrel as having “a match grade chamber with world-class accuracy.” The Bergara Performance Trigger also comes standard on the BMR.

If you’re looking for an opportunity to use your new BMR, an NRL22 match may be the right venue. Bergara is a sponsor of the NRL22, which hosts matches that are an accessible way to hone precision rifle skills without a 1,000+ yard range, and with less of a financial outlay than a traditional PRS match. The budget-minded Base class of the NRL22 limits competitors to a rifle and scope with a total MSRP of $1050. Other parts like bipods, scope rings, suppressors, and dope card holders are not counted against the price limit. The BMR Steel lists at $565, leaving $485 for optics, meaning you could pair the BMR with a non-illuminated Bushnell Match Pro, a 4-16×44 Vortex Diamondback Tactical, or one of the new Primary Arms SLx 3-18×50 scopes, and still come in under the budget cap.
