POTD: Schmidt & Bender 5-4556 PMII with Pulsar Krypton FXG50 Thermal Clip-On
Photo Of The Day – And yes as you probably already guessed we also have the Tikka TAC A1 in 6.5 Creedmoor and a Spuhr mount to carry the heavy burden of the Schmidt & Bender 5-45×56 PMII with Pulsar Krypton FXG50 Thermal Clip-On.
The 5-45 PMII really is something else. I was expecting a riflescope with an extremely tight eye box, but it’s actually a lot more useful than I expected. The reticle on this scope is GR²ID.
The Spuhr mount is tilted, to allow for long-range shooting, but it also means that the adaptor for the thermal front attachment just clears the Picatinny. Not ideal, but good enough to do some testing and evaluation.
The red dot on top is an Aimpoint H2, Cerakoted.
The base color is Patriot Brown Cerakote.

Below you can see the B&T Industries Atlas Bipods which TFB reviewed recently. The muzzle device is from Ase Utra, a BoreLock to attach a suppressor. The white is in fact snow.

Below is a photo S&B posted on Facebook just a day ago. TFB reviewed the LRR-MIL in 2019: Schmidt & Bender 5-25×56 PMII with Long Range Reticle – Milliradian (LRR-Mil). It’s difficult to comprehend how small the center dot is – my iPhone didn’t notice it!
What a perfect combination! 5-45×56 PM II High Power with our LRR-MIL reticle. Due to the bright illumination you will easily recognize on low power the red center-cross. If you crank up magnification to 45x you will see how the center-cross is interrupted having a free floating red dot in the middle which only covers 1.6 cm at 1000 m!
If you’re looking for a dedicated Thermal Sight instead of a front attachment then the new Pulsar Thermion 2 XP50 might be it for you.

jeez what a setup.
5-45 is probably the largest "gap" I've seen between the low end and high end on a non-benchrest style scope I've ever seen. That title used to go to the 5-37 Nightforce stuff. Well, I guess 1-10x LPVOs as well.
I know there's a term for it, something like in this case a 9x multiplier or similar, but regardless that's a WHOLE lot of scope. j e a l o u s
