If you’re worked at all with suppressors on quick detach mounts, you’ll know that after a day of heavy use you can end up with a stuck suppressor if you haven’t cleaned your adapter recently. Surefire has come out with their Adapter Carbon Scraping tool (ACST) to make the chore of cleaning your adapter quick and simple. The ACST is designed for high-use environments where carbon buildup can happen fast and deep cleaning isn’t convenient.
The Surefire Adapter Carbon Scraping Tool (ACST)
- The best way to quickly and effectively remove carbon from your SureFire adapter
- Ensures maintenance of correct tolerances for precise suppressor fitment
- A durable cleaning tool that’s also easy to clean
Keep It Clean. The SureFire Adapter Carbon Scraping Tool (ACST) is designed to remove carbon fouling from the corresponding SureFire suppressor adapter to an adequate level for proper suppressor attachment. While carbon may still be visible on the adapter, this is not a concern as the ACST is designed to ensure that correct tolerances are kept for precise suppressor fitment. The ACST is compatible with most SureFire muzzle brakes, flash hiders and WARCOMPS. Simply place the ACST over the SureFire “Suppressor Adapter” and rotate clockwise and counter-clockwise until carbon fouling is removed. The ACST requires little maintenance and can either be wiped or blown with compressed air to clean the inside of the tool. Stainless steel construction and a nitride prevent corrosion. Cut your field cleaning time with a SureFire ACST.
“This tool was really designed for military and police ranges where they’re doing a lot of training, a lot of rounds,” says Barry Dueck, SureFire Vice President of Suppressors and Weapons. “When people are training and jamming mags, waiting for their turn to go back up, if their suppressor gets cool enough, I always recommend that they take it off and put it back on. That breaks the carbon seal. If you shoot all day long and you never break that carbon seal, at the end of the day, you might be playing with your suppressor a while to break the carbon seal and get it loose. But if you have our Carbon Scraping Tool and give it a quick turn on your adapter, it will ensure that your suppressor goes on and off nice and easy. It’s a tool to make life easier for the operator.
The Surefire ACST is available for both .223 and .308 calibers and is available from Surefire dealers for $149.99. Cleaning isn’t my favorite part of gun ownership but even then I don’t see myself shooting enough to justify owning one of these given the current ammunition situation.
