We’ve been getting a lot of snow up here in the north and it’s times like this that make it just a little bit more difficult to get out to the range to spend a few rounds. Thankfully, BB guns are a safe and cheap way to get some trigger time in even when you can’t venture out to your favorite shooting spot. Crossman has just released a new full-auto capable CO2 air pistol – the P1. The P1 is capable of semi-automatic or full-auto fire of up to 850 rounds per minute at 400 feet per second.

The new P1 BB air pistol is very reminiscent of the Beretta M9A1. However, there is an obvious difference with the design of the P1 featuring a frame-mounted safety (the specs above were taken from the site and incorrectly state that it is a slide-mounted safety). With ammo prices the way they are now, shooting a blowback BB air pistol like the P1 may be the cheapest way to get some target practice in without losing the feedback you get from firing a projectile.
CO2 Cartridges still run for around $0.75 per piece and steel BBs are fractions of a penny per magazine. The Crossman P1 air pistol is sold directly from the Crossman website for $159.99 and can be pre-ordered now.
