HOT GAT or FUDD CRAP? Doesn’t matter, it’s a trap!

Welcome everyone to the 84th edition of ‘Hot Gat or Fudd Crap?’, one of our many series here on TFB. If you’re new to the series, this is where we look at the most obscure firearms that are actually for sale and ask the question – is this Gat a sweet deal or only have Fudd appeal?  Each week the TFB staff weighs in with their thoughts, but readers get the final say in the poll at the bottom of each article.

In our last edition, our poll showed that you, the readers, decided by a MASSIVE margin that the H&K 940 was a hot gat.

Let’s see what the Staff had to say about this week’s offering:

    Definitely a brace.” – Pete

Is an F1 too fancy for you? Do you instead want a skeletonized AR done by a 6 year old with minimal CNC experience? God this thing is a turd aside from breaking NFA laws “ – Matt E.

“Is this gun Swiss? Cuz’ it has more holes than a block of cheese” -Adam S.

“My dog looks concerned” – Matt M.

“I suppose it’s some small consolation to see the lack of a bunch of gaudy, brightly-colored parts on a gun so egregiously skeletonized. So… baby steps, I guess?” – Will P.

“I’ve always loved the educational value of cutaway models” Giorgio O.

It’s hard to understand where things went wrong during this “build”.  The drop-in trigger assembly does give it a “Wait, maybe not so much skeletonization here” vibe.  Either way, someone spent some serious money on this.

On the plus side, the gun does feed using the now popular CMMG 5.7 magazines.  So at least its got that going for it.

While the seller isn’t the first (and certainly won’t be the last) to have done this, it would appear that they’ve inadvertently created a Short Barreled Rifle (SBR).  I like to think that there’s some tax stamp hiding in the distance somewhere, but this likely isn’t the case.  If the gun hasn’t been already, it’ll need to be disassembled, and then registered as an SBR before it can be re-assembled.

So, in a strange twist, I would like you to imagine that this gun could be in your possession for $875.  Is it a hot gat for the price?  As always I leave it up to you, the reader, to decide.

Please Note: I strongly recommend NOT purchasing this item in its current configuration.
