Bear Creek Arsenal recently sent over a nicely done infographic detailing some updated statistics for the firearms industry in 2020. The infographic can give you a brief insight into the direction that the industry is going now and how circumstances during the tumultuous year changed a lot of things for the industry by providing 7 key facts to understanding 2020 and the firearms industry.

This number only seems to keep going up over the years. While we saw a bit of a slump in 2019, 2020 came back with a vengeance – probably because everyone was being told that the world was going to end 28 Days Later style and we’d be fighting over toilet paper in the streets. While none of that came to pass, people kept buying guns, getting their CCW permits renewed, and making transfers.

#2 – Texas reigns supreme – but not by much

We know that texas loves their guns which is why it’s probably no surprise that in between the last post covering the number of gun sales by states, and the end of the year, Texans managed to nearly buy an additional 800,000 guns. Florida was no slouch either with Floridians buying just a hair over 662,000 more guns in that same time span. In fact, it seems that the same top 5 states continued to buy up seemingly every gun available on the market as the end of the year approached.

These next two statistics most likely are tied together by more than just correlation. Since we are Firearms and not Politics, I’ll leave the partisan musing up to you guys but suffice it to say, last year a lot of gun owners bought their first gun ever. Likewise, states that typically don’t have a lot of gun owners or have strict gun laws. Turns out that when times are uncertain people tend to place the burden of protection more squarely on their own shoulders instead of relying on other people.

    #5, 6 & 7 – Ammunition and Jobs

The ammunition industry is hard at work trying to pump out as many loose rounds as possible for the civilian market as well as keeping up with defense contracts for the United States military. $21.38 billion dollars is nothing to scoff at when you consider that’s enough money to purchase almost 11 B-2 Stealth Bombers, or almost two whole brand new Gerald R. Ford Class Aircraft Carriers. With over 9 Billion Rounds produced just last year alone that should be enough to last me about one year after the ranges start opening back up this spring.

On a more positive note, despite the shelves remaining empty of our favorite brands of ammo, over 300,000 jobs were provided by the firearms industry alone and that’s during a time when many people are being forced to either stay at home or have lost their jobs and businesses last year. By the way, if you’re looking for a job within the firearms industry you can try out Gun Jobs which is updated daily with new positions. I’d like to thank Bear Creek Arsenal once again for sharing these unique infographics. If you’re looking for in-stock AR rifles, parts, and accessories, check out their website here.
