This number only seems to keep going up over the years. While we saw a bit of a slump in 2019, 2020 came back with a vengeance – probably because everyone was being told that the world was going to end 28 Days Later style and we’d be fighting over toilet paper in the streets. While none of that came to pass, people kept buying guns, getting their CCW permits renewed, and making transfers.

Likewise, states that typically don’t have a lot of gun owners or have strict gun laws. Turns out that when times are uncertain people tend to place the burden of protection more squarely on their own shoulders instead of relying on other people.

The ammunition industry is hard at work trying to pump out as many loose rounds as possible for the civilian market as well as keeping up with defense contracts for the United States military. $21.38 billion dollars is nothing to scoff at when you consider that’s enough money to purchase almost 11 B-2 Stealth Bombers, or almost two whole brand new Gerald R. Ford Class Aircraft Carriers. With over 9 Billion Rounds produced just last year alone that should be enough to last me about one year after the ranges start opening back up this spring.
