Rare H&K 940 delayed roller lock semi-automatic .30-06! Nice hunting rifle based on the H&K SL7.

Date code of “IC” indicating a 1982 manufacture.

This rifle is in great condition. Stock has some blemishes you can see in the pictures, mostly from handling in the field.

Blueing is in 85-90% shape, slight splotches on the barrel and a very small rust mark on the muzzle brake.

Bore looks great.

This rifle comes with the rare H&K 05 QD scope mount and rings.

Like most people, when someone mentions roller-delayed blowback, I think SP5/MP5.  It’s not often that you see rifles like this HK 940 up for grabs.  It has just enough of that sporting look, but with unmistakable HK features like the charging handle.

Based on the 7.62x51mm NATO SL7, the HK 940 is the long action variant.  It carries over a majority of the SL7 features but in wooden sporting rifle configuration.

To accommodate for the larger cartridge, the HK 940 features a longer 24″ barrel.  This is topped off by interesting flash hider/compensator slots built into the front of the barrel.  As these rifles are very much not in production, I’m sure parts are near impossible to find.  With that said, I’m oddly curious how the gun shoots and performs.

So is this retro HK chambered in 30-06 worth the money, or is this just a gun for the die-hard HK collector?  As always I leave it up to you, the reader, to decide.
