ODIN Works has introduced a new AR-15 charging handle called Diverge. According to the company, the overall shape, extended latch and the material this charging handle is machined from (7075 aluminum), increase its grip area by 500% and make it 65% wider and 140% stronger than a standard AR-15 charging handle. Let’s see what other features the ODIN Works Diverge charging handle packs.

The ODIN Works Diverge charging handle is designed with the suppressed shooting in mind. As you know, with the addition of a suppressor, the amount of gasses blown back into the receiver drastically increases and some of the gasses even find their way to the shooter through the gaps between the charging handle and upper receiver. To mitigate this issue, the Diverge charging handle features gas flow channels machined both on top and bottom that are designed to redirect the blown back gasses (as well as oil and debris) to the sides, away from the shooter’s face.

ODIN Works Diverge charging handle is listed on the company’s website at an MSRP of $69. It is available with red, blue or black latch color options. The price is identical for all three latch colors. This product is made in the USA.

I like the downward extended design of the latch. It should be less of a snag hazard while still providing a large surface area to grab and manipulate the handle. Tell us in the comments section what do you think about ODIN Works Diverge and extended charging handles in general. Have you ever faced (no pun intended) the problem of gasses blowing back through the charging handle gap when shooting your AR-15 suppressed?
