Century Arms unveiled their new AP5 and AP5P pistols at TFB’s GunFest 2021. While the pistols themselves may not exactly be “new”, they do introduce new options into the US market for fans of the roller delayed blowback platform.
New Century Arms AP5 and AP5P Pistols
The two new pistols being offered are manufactured under contract in the MKE factory in Turkey. For those that are unfamiliar, this is where Zenith firearms were formerly manufactured. The tooling itself is the original 1978 spec, and both pistols will have 100% parts interchangeability with the original MP5.
*Note: The pistols were imported with a receiver block. These will not work with a full-auto trigger pack without modification.
The larger of the two pistols is the full-sized AP5. At GunFest 2021 the AP5 (MP5 clone) was sporting a few additional accessories on top of the base pistol. It’s important to note that these guns are imported as pistols to maintain 922r compliance. This doesn’t mean that the guns aren’t ready for accessories. Included with the AP5 are an optics rail and flash hider out of the box.
With the renewed interest in the roller delayed blowback platform, the aftermarket for these two pistols gives you a lot of options, and Century was keen to showcase just that.
The AP5 on display was sporting a JMAC RSA-MP5 adapter. So if you decide to keep the gun as a pistol, or form 1 it as an SBR, you’ll have plenty of options.
The barrel on both the AP5 and AP5P is 1/2×28 threaded and features the standard tri-lug pattern for silencer or flash hider attachment. The handguards as seen on both the AP5 and AP5P will be included as well.
For those looking for something smaller to scratch that PDW itch, the AP5P (MP5K clone) is there for you.
Just like the AP5, the AP5P will have full parts compatibility with the MP5K. The AP5P that was shown did a perfect job of showing you how the pistol will arrive from the factory.
Both the AP5 and AP5P pistols will ship with two magazines made by MKE. Additionally MKE parts and accessories will be available on their website at the time of release. Century did indicate they would be importing MKE magazines as well.
Century Arms indicated these two new pistols would be available to ship on January 25th.
