[SHOT 2021] New ATN TICO LT – Thermal Clip-On Sight

Like I predicted, 2021 is going to be the year for Thermal Clip-on sights. TFB has already reported about the Pulsar KRYPTON FXG50, the Leica Calonox and several other manufacturers are ready to jump on the thermal train.

ATN just released their latest version, the ATN TICO LT 320 50 mm – Thermal Clip-On Sight. With a thermal clip-on, the idea is that you use your existing, traditional riflescope and attach the thermal device to the front of the glass with an adapter.

    TICOT LT 350X uses 320×240 px/12 μm 60 Hz, while the low-end models use 160×120 px/17 µm 60 Hz.

The new ATN uses the their Obsidian LT Core with 12 micron sensors, with the idea that you use it in Black Hot or White Hot mode. According to ATN you can mount it to your scope in under 2 seconds, and you don’t need to zero the thermal. You’re only supposed to align the reticles and you should be be ready to go.

The TICO LT has an internal Li-ion battery, with up to 9 hours of operation. It is chargeable via USB Type C. The weight is 1.2lb/560g.

There are several scope adapters available. The Scope Adapter 1 (45.5-50) is included and the (51.6-59) and (60-65) are optional. What kind of rifle would use for this type of clip-on?

According to ATN you are supposed to be able to mount the TICO to the rail of an AR platform, with the optional AD-170 WEAVER QDM. In terms of size it is 151x74x66mm the without clamp.

ATN has released this video to demonstrate their new thermal clip-on:

    Further technical data from ATN:

    Magnification: 1.5x-3x

    Field of view: 4.5°x3°

    Display Resolution: 1280×960 pixels

Color modes: White Hot / Black Hot

I was not able to find an official MSRP, but there are some dealers quoting $2,999.00, with availability in February (2021).

You can find a direct link to ATN here.

What do you think of thermal clip-ons in general? What do you think of the new ATN TICO LT specifically? Please let us know in the comments below.
