Bright and Shiny – The Vortex SPARC SOLAR Red Dot

Do you love red dots? Are you sick of those pesky batteries? Vortex is! If you’re familiar with the Vortex SPARC AR, the new Vortex SPARC SOLAR Red Dot is a no-brainer. A clear next step, the SPARC SOLAR harnesses the power of our closest star, giving your battery a rest when it’s not needed.

The SPARC® SOLAR, the newest red dot from Vortex Optics, just might be our smartest yet, harnessing the power of the sun for up to 150,000 hours of battery life. But that’s not the only trick up this tactical-minded optic’s sleeve.

Shining A Light on the Vortex SPARC SOLAR Red Dot

Using Vortex’s Auto D-TEC system, the SPARC SOLAR senses ambient light conditions then decides whether to draw power from the solar panel or the backup battery, if there isn’t sufficient solar energy to power the optic. If there is plenty of ambient light, the unit can be used without a battery installed. If you’re like me, you probably forget to turn your optics off all the time. This version of the SPARC features a 14-hour auto-shutoff. Once the optic goes into sleep mode, it can be reawakened using its motion activation feature.

It has a 2 MOA dot with 12 brightness settings (two of those are for night vision use), housed in a single-piece chassis with multi-coated glass. At 22mm, the sight window is larger than that of the SPARC AR and the Crossfire. The unit is 2.6″ long and weighs 5.9 oz with the battery and highest mount installed; of which two are included. Lens covers are provided and use a captive system to keep them attached to the optic.

IN THE BOX

  • Tethered Lens Covers
  • T10 Torx Multi-Tool
  • Low Mount
  • Lower 1/3 Co-Witness Mount
  • Lens Cloth
  • CR2032 Battery

Everyone complaining about price should keep in mind that Vortexes (Vortices?) can be purchased pretty easily with a 40% discount if you're patient. MSRP does not equal street price.

Or I will just get a real holosun instead of a rebranded vortex.
